'Springing' into Action in the Garden! ...And How We are Inspired by Nature!...

Isn't it wonderful to start feeling that change in the air? The slight warmth, the fresh scents of spring, the new splashes of colour starting to appear here and there and the hint of longer, warmer, sunny days to come, where we can enjoy more time outside.

Nature's shift to freshen up, grow new shoots and change it's colour pallet can have a profound affect on us and encourages our own natural desire to want to change with it. With the cold, grey days moving on, we are often inspired at this time of year to reflect upon our own habitats. The sudden urge for a lot of us to do a 'spring clean' - putting away the cozy blankets we have needed to have to hand by our sofas during the cold evenings of winter and sort through and de-clutter the bits and bobs that have accumulated over this time - Christmas being a major culprit! We have been couped up inside for so long now, sheltered away from the harshness of the bitter cold weather and long dark evenings - but nature is telling us it's time for change!! I am a keen gardener and enjoy being out in the great outdoors when time and weather allows. I also enjoy growing my own veg and try to be as self-sufficient as possible - especially in the current climate and with peppers and cucumbers being more difficult to source in the shops. So, I am going to be busy this weekend (well, Saturday anyway - I am not lifting a finger this Sunday! 😉) getting the first seeds of the season sown and the garden a little more in shape (if the weather allows! The forecast is looking a bit - or even a lot! - iffy to say the least, but I choose to ignore that teeny, irrelevant piece of information and live in hope instead! 😬)

As I have mentioned before, I find the garden and the outdoors a huge inspiration to my interior design work. I can't wait to get out there and get started!! I also have a few outdoor design projects planned for my garden this year, which will involve a bit of DIY-ing - I'll be sure to share as I do!... I have also been busy indoors, making small changes here and there and making a few colour changes to freshen up. I enjoy the de-cluttering part as much as the next person and will hold my hands up to de-prioritising that task and putting it off as long as I can, but I think my time is up, so that is probably a job for next weekend, no doubt with a couple of charity shop and possible tip runs in store... As much as I dislike the actual process of de-cluttering - I look forward to the huge sense of satisfaction I always feel afterwards and know how happy I will be with the space I will re-gain in my home.

The difficulty for us is that we are constantly renovating, with the current focus being the bathroom, which in turn builds clutter in other areas of the house with materials being stored, etc. But, we are getting there and it will soon be a thing of the past! So, what have you got planned this weekend? Will you be in your gardens at all? Or do you have a project you are wanting to get your hands on indoors? Whatever your project (if any at all!), I encourage you to take a walk outside this weekend, notice the changes and be inspired by nature! If you are wanting to make some changes in your home and would like some help, or advice, please don't hesitate to get in touch, either via email to: nicolapattondesign@outlook.com, or by phone on: 07957 755 568.

Enjoy your weekends everyone!
